"producer and visual artist Joshua Neumann"
Mindsight is the experimental electronic project of Munich, Germany based producer and visual artist Joshua Neumann. Though only in his early twenties, Neumann has been producing music since the age of 12, and hosting events since 14. He’s since become an integral curator and organizer of the German underground, having founded new performance spaces such as Common Ground in Munich, and kicked off organizing efforts for Die Vielen, an alliance between more than 3000 Institutions to stand together for the freedom of art and diversity in opposition to right-wing extremism. Most recently, he’s helped launch United We Stream, a fundraising and live streaming platform to support the Berlin club scene during the Coronavirus, and eventually curate similar events around the world.
For the last three years, Mindsight has served as an extension of his DJ sets, his compositions focused around accessibility and most importantly, danceability. More recently though, and especially on new single “Trojan Matter”, Neumann is breaking out of his comfort zone to explore darker pastures and more experimental influences. The track opens with Oneohtrixian dystopic synths, before veering into Jacques Greene territory with punchy, off-kilter percussion. It’s a song about trusting in uncertainty - an almost euphoric living-in-the-moment acceptance of oneself and your circumstance.
