Joe Kann and the folk rock dance of "B Side"

"it ain't so bad on the B-side of life..."

Joe Kann is a singer/songwriter whose unique style is informed by his experiences as a husband, father, and traveler. Inspired primarily by the folk tradition, he shows a rare authenticity in his songwriting, which explores themes of family, love, and the passing of time.

Joe was born in New York and spent much of his early adult life traveling the country. Although he harbored dreams of a life in music as a young man, he instead pursued a career as an air traffic controller which took up most of his time. Music, however, was never far from his mind. Everywhere he went, he absorbed the local styles, quietly building up a diverse knowledge of everything from early blues to classic rock’n’roll, all of which would come to inform his sound.

Now, almost thirty years after first picking up a guitar, he is putting the stories of his life into songs. He released his first tracks in late 2020 and has been steadily building momentum. As his repertoire grows, Joe is dedicated to continuing to travel the country and build connections through his music.
